Driving success

This weekend I took to a different kind of crafting from usual - cake decoarating.

My brother passed his driving test on Friday and we wanted to do something to mark the occassion. However, having searched in all the local shops, we failed to find anything relating to passing your driving test. Not a card, a banner, and certainly not a cake! I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a card! I asked in a local cake shop about them decorating a cake with a torn L-plate design and they weren't very helpful - suggesting they used rice paper!

So, how hard could it be right? Armed with some white and red icing - it had to be red as he's bought a classic red mini - off I went to decorate some cakes!

After finishing the the torn L-plate cake, I still had loads of icing left. So I made some fairy cakes and once they had cooled I started to decoarte them too.

When I looked at the photo of the finished cakes I noticed my cake tins in the background - wonder where I got my pattern inspiration from! Matching the baking to the kitchen decor - taking it a bit far maybe?

Encourged by the success of the cakes I thought I'd make a card too. After a bit of fun cutting and sticking here's the finished card.
